A teacher I knew kept a Care Bear in her 7th-grade classroom. It was a leftover from her days teaching kindergarten. When a student got whiney, she would set Care Bear on his desk and encourage them to tell Care Bear what was wrong. Care Bear cared and would listen to everything.
